Roy Roman (Image Comics)

Roman simply was a Namor expy  by Liefeld, in the early Image Universe. Because “Namor” is “Roman” backward. CUNNING.

These notes are quite, quite old. Given when the story ends, I’d say they were done between 1997 and 2001.

  • Marital Status: Single.
  • Known Relatives: None.
  • Group Affiliation: Allies.
  • Base Of Operations: Atlantis.
  • Height: 6’2” Weight: 325 lbs.
  • Eyes: Blue-grey Hair: Black

Roman first showed up as an ally to the now defunct team Brigade. He brought a great deal of experience and prestige to the team. Unfortunately, Roman’s inclusion to the team wasn’t enough to save any of its members, save Seahawk, from death.

That wasn’t enough to keep Roman from joining up with the next incarnation of Brigade. But that version, although more focused and noble a team, was short lived.

Roman hasn’t been seen much of late. The main exception are his adventures with Supreme and the re-formed Allies. Their goal was to save a number of heroes that had been trapped by Optilux since the 1960s.

This “re-introduction” of Roman gave us to his full name : “Roy Roman”. It also granted an insight into some of his powers, such as his “sonar sense”, and his telepathy.

Roy appears much less tense amongst his contemporaries. What the future and present holds for him is to be discovered…

Roy Roman looks like a combination of the Submariner and Aquaman with black hair and a beard.

He possesses the pointy ears of Namor, and wears a green and yellow costume that has the same “fish skin” appearance as Aquaman’s outfit.

Roman has a somewhat abrasive attitude when in the company of mainstream teams like the old government operated Youngblood and Bloodstrike. But now that his old comrades from the Allies are back we’ve gotten to see a more mellow, nostalgic Roman emerge.

A more Aquaman-like attitude, compared to his earlier “evil Namor/lame Image Comic” attitude if you will.

Roman is quick to be concerned for his comrades and is usually amongst the firsts to enter a battle.

Roman does possess a fiery temper and has been known to become a near berserker in combat.

“Supreme ? I’m receiving mental impressions that these things are entities from the beginning of the universe ! Can that be possible ?”
