Context

Brigade was an early, uninteresting Image Comics book of the early 1990s. It had some generic, cheap “heroes” with a style screaming “early 1990s”.

Since a 1990s tabletop super-hero RPG campaign of mine needed corporate superhuman operatives, I adapted some Brigade characters to the Marvel Universe. These could be useful to others.

These homebrewed adaptations have completely separate writeups.org character profiles than the actually published Image characters.

Powers and Abilities

Like all Barros family members, Seahawk can breathe underwater and move with ease at any depth.

He’s also superhumanly strong and tough, and can fly through air or water at high speeds.

History

Marco Barros gained his powers as a part of his father’s research. Bernardo Barros, a respected Chilean biologist, had friends in the government who financed an expedition in the Pacific. However, when they came above the Atlantean city of Neuport, they were attacked by Atlanteans serving Attuma. These wanted to steal the specialised equipment in the boat.

The Human survivors were kept to operate the equipment, and the Atlantean gave them water-breathing abilities. Bernardo’s sons, Marco and Alejandro, who had come along with him, were latent mutants. The water-breathing process triggered their respective mutations.

Both thinking their father dead in the boarding, they came back to Chile to enjoy the inheritance. However, the government had other plans for them, and made them into special police officers. After a time, however, the sheer inhumanity of working as Pinochet ’s lackeys wore them down. They were denounced by another, far more ambitious officer.

The Barros brothers were imprisoned for life for refusing to serve the dictator. However, after a several years, they were noticed by Roxxon operatives. The multinational used its considerable influence on the Chilean government to have them freed. They made them a part of its Clandestine Operations section.

They are mainstays of the main superhuman strike force left to Roxxon, a team code-named Brigade.

Description

See illustration.

Personality

Marco Barros spent a large part of his life in prisons, and is a rather coarse individual. He acts in a mostly brutal and irresponsible way, which tends to grates on the nerves of his teammates (especially Lethal).

He seems to be afraid of Battlestone, but attempts to hide it.
