Powers and Abilities
Shatterfist is a dreaded martial arts expert, with an iron-fist-like ability that was seemingly enhanced by the Overmaster.
Shatterfist was described as one of the best martial artists in the world, but he was vanquished by the oft-underestimated Vixen.
One comment implies that his strength was also enhanced.
He’s described as a “ninja killer”, so we’ve surmised undemonstrated stealth abilities in our game stats.
He was assumed by the Monitor to be the most dangerous and uncontrollable member of the Cadre.
Shatterfist’s most impressive power is to punch the ground, triggering a mini-earthquake. Most persons nearby will tumble like in a pinball machine (in DC Heroes RPG terms, Shockwave) and the impact inflicts considerable property damage (Vibe). This power is undiscriminating, though.

History
Shatterfist has been described as a ninja killer worshipping Kàli. Perhaps he’s a Japanese martial artist who travelled to India and converted to this faith there.
Under unrevealed circumstances, the future Shatterfist was captured. He was kept neutralised in a South Korea Buddhist temple for 15 years. The monks kept his mind in a state of sleepwalking meditation for all these years.
Cadre
In the mid-1980s the prisoner was recruited by the Overmaster. The alien incinerated two of the monks, broke the trance and teleported Shatterfist to him. To make him a member of the Cadre, the Overmaster enhanced his strength and “iron fist” power.
After the Crisis, Shatterfist apparently accompanied the Overmaster in outer space. He was the only Cadre member to do so. It is possible that he helped the Overmaster bring mass extinction to alien planets.
When the Overmaster returned to Earth, Shatterfist was the de facto leader of a new, extended Cadre. A brainwashed Ice (Tora Olafsdotter) later joined the group. Ice and Shatterfist clashed as to who would be top dog. Shatterfist threatened to inform the Overmaster of the insane Ice’s hubris, and she lashed out at him with a dense barrage of ice spikes, apparently killing him.
A new Shatterfist would later be enhanced to join the Cadre.

Personality
Shatterfist is a brutal killer and evil karate badass. He has little patience with… anything, really, and generally wants to take charge and kill stuff.
He is very bad at retreating from a fight or a chest-beating contest, and seems to just love mass death and mayhem.
Quotes
“Childish games bore me. I wasted enough of my life as a prisoner in a Buddhist temple. The Overmaster promised us a new life, if we but claim it — by destroying this ’league‘. I, for one, am ready to claim my destiny… using the zen secrets I stole from my one-time sensei… and the new force given me by the Overmaster. This charade… is over !” (KRAAM !)
“Surprise, jerkweeds ! You’re not going anywhere !”
“I know where the League huddles, Overmaster. With just half the Cadre — the fiercest half — I will smooth over that bump in the road !”
“Greetings from the Overmaster and the new Cadre, Justice League… your doom has come !”
“How dare you talk to me like this ?!”
