Powers and Abilities

Shimmer has only a single metahuman  trait. She can generate a form of photoelectric plasma, and project it. Her plasma blasts are powerful enough to melt steel, or seriously damage a concrete bunker.

If she projects it in such a way that she strikes herself, it seems to short circuit, generating a powerful flare.


History

High School student Sherry Richardson discovered her mutation when she was nearly 18. She fended off a mugger by blasting him through a boarded up door. She then decided to be a superhero, like her idol the Memphis adventurer, Quarterstaff.

Last year, after meeting her hero when she aided the Alliance, the team’s resident genius gave her a costume of “dimensionally  transcendental” fibers. It can exist in an interdimensional space until summoned, and do not seem to tear or burn, even though they do not provide any protection.

Recently, she has started college at Washington University in St. Louis. But she is finding it hard to balance adventuring, school, and working to pay off her student loans. Thus, while her actions in the public eye aren’t as frequent, she’s as busy as ever.


Description

A cute, if not beautiful, young lady, she wears a shimmering bodysuit, with interference fibers that make it shine from pink to light blue, depending on the lighting.

Her energy blasts are also shimmering, with sparkles of brighter energy within the silvery-white beam.


Personality

As bubbly as the energy sparkles in her energy blasts, Shimmer revels in doing the right thing. She is bouncy and bright, but not annoying, and can usually find the bright side of any situation.


DC Universe History

Shimmer would be totally unrelated to the villainess of the same name… but there might grow a rivalry over the name…


Note

“Dimensionally transcendental fibers” are a form of Plot Deviceium… very similar to Unstable molecules . They explain away insta-change, and why heroes get all beat up, and never get their costume torn, at least not in areas that could break the comics’ code…
