Silverlance

Context

This character is an original creation. We often call these “homemades” or “homebrewed” – think home cooking or craft beer.

Many of these characters were created to take part in tabletop role-playing game sessions. Others were invented as a creative writing exercise, often as part of a community event. This specific character was part of a RPG campaign run by writeups.org contributor Bil.

Powers and Abilities

Silverlance’s genetic makeup was mystically altered while in the womb by his father. This rendered him both albino, and the innate wielder of a legendary spell called the Silver Lance.

When used against a non-mystical target, the lance purifies both body and spirit, even going so far as to remove chemical dependencies that are purely biochemical in nature, ejecting controlling entities, and the like.

However, when used against a target that is mystical in nature, or has any mystical powers (i.e., Mystic Linked, or Sorcery, not just powers in the Mystical category), it acts as a devastating assault of pure energy.

Recently, Silverlance was able to refine his innate mastery of the Silver Lance. Thus, he can now project a blast of pure energy that affects all things, not just things mystical. He did so after many years of studying the occult, and mastering his own body and spirit.

History

After Jason Mendolsson’s older brother was born intellectually disabled, his father went slightly paranoid. He cast wards and rituals he did not fully understand over his wife when she was pregnant with their second child, Jason. He was despondent when he saw his second child was albino, and forswore magic forever.

When Jason was 12, he felt a surge of energy inside him. He instinctively fired the Silver Lance into a nearby alcohol rehabilitation clinic. The purifying effects of the Silver Lance cured all but the psychological effects of the patients’ alcohol addictions. As a result, the clinic’s reputation soared.

After completing college, Jason immersed himself in mystic study. He sought to figure out what his father had done to him.

Several years later, his father died, leaving him the family fortune, and a plea to not make the mistakes he had made. Jason took the money, and renovated his family mansion into what would be the Mendolsson Memorial Hostel for Displaced Metahumans.

One day, he discovered several of his ’guests’ were using the hostel as a base for criminal activities. He asked hostel residents Synergy and Dragonlord to help him clear them out. That was the founding of the New Legion, and the start of an era for Silverlance.

Description

A tall albino, he adventures as the leader of the New Legion in tan breeches, swashbuckler boots, and a white baggy shirt. His hair is well below his waist, and he moves with a grace women seem to swoon over.

Personality

Silverlance is calm and rational, and always in control of any situation. While not well known to the general public outside of Denver, he is extremely well known and respected among the hero community.

He recently has begun to grow close to Amber, but worries about, if he should marry her, whether or not the Silver Lance would pass on to his children.

DC Universe History

Silverlance could either be just another addition to the DC Mystical community, or he could be the leader of a variant of the New Legion brought over.
