Powers and Abilities

Snowblind is an example of a metahuman  whose innate abilities were altered by an outside force, before he expressed his metahumanity. After being awakened by the ancient mace, he has displayed the ability to manipulate winter weather, as well as the ability to generate considerable amounts of ice.

He also has demonstrated dramatically superhuman strength — though not to the extent of such heroes as Champion, Hauler, Strongarm, or Powerhouse — and superhuman resistance to injury.

As a member of the Society for Creative Anachronism  prior to his awakening, Snowblind is a master at the use of hand-to-hand weaponry. In addition, he is an avid military enthusiast, adept at tactics, field command, and military procedures.

Snowblind still wields the mace that transformed him. This weapon which has yet to show any other abilities since it did so, beyond its incredible resistance to damage, and its ability to repair itself when damaged.


History

As a student at Memphis State University (before it changed his name to the University of Memphis ), Chris Medder went on an archaeological dig in northern Lapland . There, he stumbled across an ancient, studded mace, composed of some unknown material. When he grasped the handle, he felt incredibly cold for a moment, then it passed.

Turning to one of his partners, he was going to throw them the mace. But he realized he had grown six inches, and gained over 70 pounds, in that brief moment, ripping through most of his clothes. Realizing the intense cold of Lapland didn’t affect him at all, he experimented, and discovered his other powers.

Returning to Memphis, he created the identity of Snowblind, and helped found the Alliance. He was responsible for the group reforming as a mobile strike force, and has been one of their more capable leaders.


Description

As the current leader of the Alliance, he has reformed them into a mobile strike force. He is tall, muscular, and usually wears a white bodysuit, with snowblind goggles, and a weird pattern of lines on his forehead.


Personality

Strongwilled and capable, Snowblind is both the leader and spokesman for the Alliance. He is a major fantasy-science fiction buff, and could be voted “Superhero Most Likely to Play a Role-Playing Game”. He was an active member of the SCA before he became a metahuman, and still loves reading about medieval times.

In a fight, Snowblind will usually not “ice up” unless he knows he’s facing a powerful foe. He uses his ice abilities primarily, only using his weather powers if facing a large number of foes.

DC has a history of powers being bestowed by bizarre artifacts, so one more wouldn’t hurt too much.
