This character is an original creation. We often call these “homemades” or “homebrewed” – think home cooking or craft beer.
Many of these characters were created to take part in tabletop role-playing game sessions. Others were invented as a creative writing exercise, often as part of a community event.
As to Stuff – in the spirit of the upcoming Tangent “universe” by DC, I present the following : a character who has nothing in common with his DC namesake except the name. (Everyone *does* remember Stuff the Chinatown Kid, don’t they?)
Powers and Abilities
Stuff has the uncanny ability to summon, well, stuff. These objects vary in size from pencil stubs, paper clips, and ping pong balls all the way up to sofas, cars, and filing cabinets. Stuff has no control over what is summoned.
In addition, the items he summons are always in motion when they first appear. The effect is a massive barrage of a variety of different stuff. While Stuff has no income per se, he is able to pawn some of the stuff that he summons. However, note that in a sense, this is stealing, as his power only summons objects; it does not create them.
Stuff was a well-adjusted teen-ager whose only real misfortune was to live with an overly suspicious mother. She suspected him of everything from being a gang member to drug user, having watched far too many talk shows. Then one morning his power manifested itself in a shower of jewels and gold.
He quickly hid the evidence in his room before going off to school. When he came home from school, he could see several police cars out front. Realizing that his mother must have found the gold and jewels, he fled, and has been living on the streets ever since.
Stuff wears an old pair of jeans, a T-shirt, and a flannel shirt as a jacket, which consist of his only set of clothes. His hair is unkempt as a result of sleeping on the streets.
Source of Character: Homemade, “inspired” by DC’s Tangent universe.
