Powers and Abilities

Remember when you were 15 and that annoying player whose Player Character  kept being killed, and who kept bringing back the same character sheet , saying how it was the first character’s twin brother or some such ? Well, the Death Squad members are a bit like that.

When a Swift dies, the Swift set of powers and the memories of the fights he has been in are automatically saved in the Foreigner’s labs. A new volunteer is then treated to receive this data and the standard set of gear to become the new Swift, indistinguishable from the previous Swift (at least in game terms).

Swift is a skilled hand-to-hand fighter with superhuman reflexes, speed and coordination.

Like other Death Squad members, he sounds pretty tough on paper – but wasn’t impressive when pitted against Spider-Man (Peter Parker). Lesser-powered fighters may find him to be a more serious threat, however.

History

Swift-1 was part of the Death Squad arrayed by the Foreigner to defend one of his bases against an onslaught by Betty Brant-Leeds and Spider-Man, who were avenging the death of Ned Leeds (supposedly the Hobgoblin). Swift-1 was apparently killed in the fight, and the base then exploded.

It would seem that he uncharacteristically survived, though. Since the next time Swift was seen he was referred to as Swift-1 rather than Swift-2.

Swift-1 later was among the Death Squad forces assembled by Dead Aim. Dead Aim had overthrown the Foreigner, becoming the new head of the 1400 Club, and was hunting his predecessor down. Swift-1 and his comrades failed in their attempt, in part due to Spider-Man’s interference. They were blown away by Dead Aim for his failure.
