Powers and Abilities
Synergy is a seedling (mutant). Her distinctive abilities allows her to activate latent powers in other seedling, or to neutralize them. Though the activation is permanent, the neutralization is temporary. She can only affect seedlings as her own powers come from that source.
She’s an able scientist and physician. Her training in StormWatch brought her great fighting abilities from Backlash and good leadership in the vicinity of Bendix.
I’ve got the power
In the Wildstorm Universe, powers comes from a short list of known source. Short but handles most of what turns out in the whole comics industry :
- Seedling : mutation exclusively due to the tail of the Comet that passed near Earth in the 1970’s. Ex: Fuji, Battalion, Despot.
- Gen-Active : humans altered by the use of the Gen Factor (currently 2 known sources : IO and Gamorra) and their offspring. Ex: Team 7, Gen13, DV8.
- Alien : space aliens, and space alien/humans half-breeds. Ex: Maul, Emp, Mr White, Warblade, Voodoo.
- Cybernetics: humans altered with inorganic parts. Ex: Ivana Baiul, Mother I, Ladytron, Cybernary.
- Cosmic: individual powered by some greater source. Ex: Void, Union, Max Faraday.
- Magic: magical creatures. Ex: Vampire Nation, Were Nation.
- Symbiote: acquisition of a Symbiote à la Wetworks. Ex: Wetworks, Taboo.
- Kindred: animals altered to gain human features à la Doctor Moreau (known source, IO’s Caballito island) Ex: Dingo, Sheba.

History
At first, she was merely an administrative officer, in charge of activating the new recruits powers. Nevertheless, she has been caught in the field several times, and thanks to Backlash’s combat training, did fairly well.
After Bendix’s dismissal, following the unauthorized rescue party in Gamorra, she was appointed Weatherman. Somehow, the UN’s security council thought she was the best choice. The argument was that she was working close to Bendix and knew his methods and some of his secrets.
She did rather well at this position, but she resented the weight of the responsibilities. She also started a relationship with Battalion, and had to put her feelings aside to be effective.
Stormy weather
She had further troubles keeping the teams together. With Flashpoint’s bravado, Cannon’s constant disgruntlement about not being in charge, Strafe’s doubts about his brother and father, Fuji and Hellstrike‘s energy clouds problems… that was not an easy task.
She accepted the cybernetic modifications required for the Weatherman. These allowed her to interpret all the data that flows through StormWatch’s Earth’s surveillance apparatus of spy satellites. It also provided her with a direct two way link with Skywatch’s core computer.
After the Despot episode, and the crash of Skywatch, Bendix regained his position and Synergy returned to her recruiting activity.
When Bendix reorganized StormWatch after “Fire From Heaven”, she was appointed as field recruiting agent. Trelane was in charge of discovering new valuable seedlings and judging if they were worth recruiting and activating.
Description
Synergy is a striking blonde.
Personality
She’s strong headed. She had a crush on Battalion since the beginning and nearly pounced on him. When in charge, she tries to make sure that the UN’s protocol is respected. She wouldn’t let a friend or subordinate in trouble if she could do something about it.

New rules
Synergy’s activating ability required a new power. Twisting Mutation on Enchantment was not good enough.
Activation
Mental Power
Link : Will
Range: Touch
Type : Dice
Base Cost : 500
Factor Cost : 10
The use of this power requires a Dice action with AP of power as AV/EV and the Body of the willing target as OV/RV. Hero Points may be spent on AV/EV and OV/RV. As it is a real trauma for the target, the RAP are immediately treated as killing damage (can be soaked through Last Ditch Defense as usual).
A successful check grants the target with RAP x 10 HP to be spent immediately on the AP Purchase Chart to increase existing powers. New powers can be acquired at double base cost.
All the AP bought this way must be approve by the GM who has final word on what and how much can be bought. Whether the HP used comes fully or partially from the target HP pool (and though limited) or not is at GM’s discretion.
This power should be left in NPC players hands only for game’s balance’s sake.
Note from Seb : I’d rather leave that stuff undefined as a plot device (some people have a potential all of their own, and Synergy simply has an Advantage allowing for unlocking it), but Nicolas preferred the Power approach.
