Thorn
(Fawcett Comics)
Context
In 1941, Fawcett Comics released the first issue of America’s Greatest Comics.
55-to-60 years later, our contributor Sean went through it and wrote up a bunch of the minor, generic, forgotten villains therein. And thus we have a selection of Golden Age evil nobodies for you to play with.

Powers and Abilities
He has a gun that kill people by shriveling them up.
He also has a car and some henchmen.
History
He’s one of several supervillains freed from jail by the Brain in America’s Greatest Comics #1. The Thorn was sent to kill Secretary of State Simpson. As Simpson addresses a “group of important officials”, the Thorn turns his ray on all who are present, killing them all.
Mr. Scarlet arrives too late, fights his way through the thugs. He is defeated by the Thorn, who clobbers him by hitting him with his rifle. They then take Mr. Scarlet back to HQ, not realizing that Pinky is following them.
The Brain taunts Mr. Scarlet with a tarantula, just as Pinky arrives to free Mr. Scarlet. The pair rush away to stop other members of the Death Battalion, punching out anybody that tries to stop them.
Later, these members of the Death Battalion stay in their HQ until Mr. Scarlet and Pinky show up again. Mr. Scarlet punches the Thorn so hard that the spike on his head sticks into the ceiling.
Description
He is a guy wearing a robe, under which he wears a suit. The robe has a hood with a spike (representing a thorn) on top.
He also wears gloves and normal shoes.
Quotes
“Ho, ho, look at them shrivel and turn to mummies !”
DC Universe History
In the post-Crisis Universe, there is no reason why he could not have existed. Except that there might be confusion between him and the DCU villainess known as the Thorn. Not to mention the Rose and the Thorn.
