Ultra
(Rick Stone)
Context
This character is an original creation. We often call these “homemades” or “homebrewed” – think home cooking or craft beer.
Many of these characters were created to take part in tabletop role-playing game sessions. Others were invented as a creative writing exercise, often as part of a community event.

Overview
Rick Stone is a rock star, as such he maintains that image while in his secret identity. He is somewhat aloof, a bit amoral, and seems to be concerned only with parties.
In actuality, he is a kind, caring individual. He simply knows his limits. He knows he can’t save the world, even with his nearly limitless strength and resources.
Early in his career, right after meeting Astroman, he had fits of depression at what he couldn’t do. But now he is over the self-doubt and the self-loathing. It is however present if anyone could dig it up.
As Ultra he makes numerous public appearances when he isn’t stopping natural disasters. His message is always one of compassion, involvement and using what you have wisely and responsibly. Ultra is quick to act and only tempers his huge physical force when absolutely necessary.
This does not mean he doesn’t think things through beforehand. His thoughts just move faster than a normal person’s. Therefore, if he sees an asteroid falling towards New York, he won’t hesitate to intercept and move, or destroy that asteroid rather than let it fall on Central Park.
History
Rick Stone is the grandson of one of the surviving volunteer subjects for Operation Freedom. His grandfather was granted a commendation for bravery for his participation but was honorably discharged immediately for security reasons.
Decades later, Richard Stone was playing a show with his first rock band. Things were going great until Hellhound, as Firewolf was called while he was possessed by Soulless, landed on stage and attempted to hypnotize the crowd.
Rick bravely ran forward and clubbed the then villain with his guitar to no effect. Soulless turned and unleashed a magic blast which played havoc with the rocker’s nervous system, causing him to fall into a coma which lasted for six years.
When Rick revived from his coma, he discovered that he had inhuman strength, invulnerability, and the ability to fly through air and space. He took a cue from the action that gave him such great gifts and pledged his life to making the world a better place.
The rest is history. He created the identity of Ultra and became the world’s strongest hero and staunchest protector.
Description
Rick Stone is a Caucasian male with long brown hair and green eyes. He dresses like a typical rock star who hasn’t quite made it to the top, ripped jeans, tight shirts, and leather jackets. He wears a pair of special reflective shades that don’t hamper his vision much.
As Ultra, he wears a red bodysuit with a blue torso and sleeves, red gloves and a red cape. His hair takes on a bronze cast and is pulled back into a ponytail.
As Ultra, and his eyes glow with bright gold light whenever he exerts his powers, so whenever he is flying, lifting heavy weights or punching something. This glow is unnoticed behind his special shades which is why he wears them in his secret identity.
