Context

This character is an original creation. We often call these “homemades” or “homebrewed” – think home cooking or craft beer.

Many of these characters were created to take part in tabletop role-playing game sessions. Others were invented as a creative writing exercise, often as part of a community event.

As to this specific character – I just discovered her old character sheet living in the back of my old DC 3rd Ed. book!!!

(Which likely means that this character dates from the mid-1990s. The themes also correspond this far away era of the mists-shrouded past — Ed.).

History

(The Nutshell™ Version).

Her calling card is a “V” painted on the wall, occasionally in the criminal’s own blood. No one has ever heard her speak, precipitating a rumour that she is mute. Witnesses do recall experiencing an unnatural chill feeling in their bones in her presence.

Her M.O. is simple : justice, and a punishment to fit the crime. But she is often judge, jury and executioner, as well. She is one the law can’t touch, because there is not enough solid evidence to prove she is something other than an urban legend, and law enforcement often looks the other way.

Those she has rescued describe her as an inhumanly beautiful, apparently young woman with haunted eyes, garbed in silver and white armor. She is also purported to have feline eyes and other non-human features.

Most refuse to say much about her, only indicating that she was gentle and compassionate with them or the victims ; but in turn was utterly ruthless with the criminals.

Into the mystic

Those in the mystical community are familiar with the legend of the High Lady Nimue Le Fay, a Tuatha de Dannu sorceress. She was captured by the Unsidhe Court, tortured, raped in body, mind and spirit for their own nefarious purposes.

Nearly drained of her sorcerous might, she used her psychic abilities and remaining magick to escape. She presumable lost her memories somehow in the process, which might have been for the best. She was found by Death of the Endless, on one of the rare occasions she chose to walk the Earth, taken in and healed.

Over the course of several years, and occasional visits by Death, who was now her friend. Morpheus (aka Dream) was persuaded by his sister, to ease the horrific nightmares and traumatic flashbacks she often suffered, helping heal her wounded mind and spirit after a fashion.

It was during this time, being in her Dreamscape and interacting with Vendetta on this level that she and Morpheus fell in love. And upon her introduction to the Endless, it was revealed in Destiny’s Book, that she was to take the place of Destruction, who had long ago mellowed, seeking to live a live of adventure and conquest, having grown bored with his original role.

She still maintains contact with the group of sorcerers known as the White Circle : Weather Witch/Nicola di Borgia-de Lune, Mr. Moonlight/Vittorio de Lune, Stalker/Diedre “Di Di” di Medici, Starwolf (an Amerind Shaman) among others with whom she adventured for nearly 30 years. They are her family out side the Endless, and she bears a special fondness for them.
