Zombie (Bane / Batman character) (DC Comics)

(Bane lieutenant)

Power Level:
Game system: DC Heroes Role-Playing Game

Zombie is a Batman and Robin enemy, who appeared in 1993. He is closely associated with Bane.

Thus, this profile is meant to be read after the Bane (profile 1 – Bat-breaker). Which has almost all of the history and context.

  • Real Name: Unrevealed.
  • Marital Status: Unrevealed.
  • Known Relatives: None.
  • Group Affiliation: Henchman of Bane.
  • Base Of Operations: Pena Duro in Santa Prisca, later Gotham City.
  • Height: 6’3” Weight: 130 lbs.
  • Eyes: Pale blue Hair: Bald, formerly red

Powers and Abilities

Zombie has two distinct sets of talents.

  1. He’s a proficient chemist specialising in illegal narcotics.
  2. He’s a knife thrower so skilled that he can engage opponents with guns and prevail.

Some scenes imply that he’s also a good computer hacker, and he could fly a helicopter.

One scene shows him working with electronics. But I’ve assumed that it was a mistake and it was meant to be Trogg.

See the Bane (writeup 1 – Bat-breaker) character profile.

Zombie has known Bane practically from birth. He was working at the Pena Duro infirmary, where Bane’s mother frequently came with her baby. Zombie had ended up there after working for drug lords as a designer of illegal drugs.

After Bane was made dependent on modified Venom, Zombie stole a sample. Thus, the chemist learned to duplicate the drug so Bane would have a perpetual supply after escaping from Pena Duro. He also served as a source of information (by hacking police databases) and enforcer (often using throwing knives) during the Gotham takeover.

Bane abandoned his henchmen (Zombie, Trogg, Bird) after his defeat at the hands of Batman (Jean-Paul Valley). Why is not explained, but he seemed disappointed at the performance of his men. And in particular how they had led Valley to him after Batman had tricked them into escaping from prison.

Zombie has not been seen since the Knightfall events.

Zombie prefers to dress in a good suit, and often wears leather gloves. He accessorises with a white tie over a black shirt, and a cane with a skull-shaped pommel.

He has an angular, bony face and male-pattern baldness took his hair early on. He’s tall and unusually gaunt, which is presumably what earned him his nickname. It also makes him look older than he is.

Quiet, loyal, intelligent. Zombie likes subtlety, accuracy and having a precise, skilled touch.
